Plasma Applications for Space Technology with Dr. Janith Weerasinghe (PhD, MRSC).

Dr. Janith Weerasinghe is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics, Australian National University, located in Canberra, Australia. With a strong focus on materials science and plasma physics, his research encompasses various applications within aerospace engineering, renewable energy, and nanomaterials synthesis. Dr. Weerasinghe’s research interests also extend to the exploration of advanced materials for space propulsion, specifically targeting satellites and CubeSats. His academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Plasma Physics and Nanotechnology from Queensland University of Technology, Australia, a Master of Philosophy in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Ruhuna.

Dr. Weerasinghe’s outstanding contributions to his field have been acknowledged through the receipt of numerous prestigious awards and grants. Notable among these are the SRN Research pilot project grant, the ANU Research Pipeline Seed Funding, and the NRC Merit Award for Scientific Research, which have further validated the significance of his work
